Beamer does one of our six surfaces, and does it well. The reason it appears in our comparison at all is the meter, which is the most aggressive in this category and the easiest to misread.
Beamer counts monthly active users, and their own definition is the important part: "unique users who access any page where Beamer's script is embedded." Not people who open the changelog. People who load a page that has the script on it. Put it in your site footer and your entire audience is billable, including everyone who never once looked at what is new.
The arithmetic that catches people
Past your allowance it is $50 per additional 5,000 MAU. A marketing page that does well is therefore a cost event, which is a strange thing to have to plan around.
Our changelog is one of six surfaces on a flat plan, with an unread dot your users see and no per-visitor accounting anywhere in it.
Where Beamer is the better choice
Written by us, about a competitor, because a comparison that wins every row is worth nothing to the person reading it.
- A free tier at 1,000 MAU, where we have a 7-day trial and nothing after it
- A more mature standalone changelog product, including segmentation and scheduling we do not match
- Years of track record and customer reviews behind them
